Default Sound mods

How easy is it to make your own sound mod? Do I need to actually code anything, or can I just copy files?

I noticed one mod plays a better crash dive sound(it's longer and seems more "authentic") than the current mod I'm playing, can I just create a sub-mod copying the sound files I want and apply it through JGSME, or do I need more?

Copying sound files is all it takes. For the main sound folder (not Speech) they need to be in .wav format, and not to long. Ten-to-twenty seconds is good, though for some you can get away with longer files. In SH3 I use an 'Ambient Interior' file that runs for ten minutes, but the 'Creak' files need to be fairly short or they'll echo over and over.
