Default Not credited with sinking

I used to run into this problem with SH4.
I'm on my second patrol in SH5.
I went to a harbor near Scotland and sunk two very large passenger type ships that were docked.
I wasn't credited for either one?

Is this a Ubi problem or a mod problem? or simply live with it problem?

My mod list is;

Mighty fine crew 1.2.1 stock w/beards
more crew commands v1.04
No Magic skills v1.5 MCCD compatible
IRAI 0_0_30
IRAI upgrade to 0_0_31
Enhanced ship recon manual v2.10
Open Horizons II full v1.5
TDW Mines Subnets Detectable in hydro(OH II v1.5)
OHII v1.5 Base, parts Patch3b
Sub-hyd-fix-SH5
NewUIs TDC 6_9_0 by DarkWraith
TDC Graphics by Naight v1.0

Thanks.

Yes and that's why I posted this question.

Sometimes if you sink a ship in shallow water it doesn't have enough room to actually "sink" and have the game count it.

Also to add to what has been said - some objectives require you to sink a specific type of ship i.e. tanker

Possibly, but there was enough water to completely submerge the boats from view.

Maybe its a bug that got carried over from SH4.

The objective was to simply patrol area and sink as much shipping as possible. Does this imply you won't get credited for sinking destroyers?
In SH4 I was always credited with sinking destroyers. In SH5 so far I've always been credited with sinking destroyers even though it was not on my mission list.

I could be wrong but, in the cases where the water is too shallow to sink, shelling it to swiss cheese or using more torpedoes can fully destroy the vessel to the point where you get credit for a kill. Might be worth a shot (or 50) but then again, the attempt might not be worth the ordinance you expend doing so.

Depending on the date, another possible explanation is that passenger ships (early war) are major no no.
British or not, doesn't matter.

Mid September on my first patrol, I stumbled on a small French freighter. I ignored the orders from BDU that French vessels were only to be shot at in self defense. 2000 ton is still 2000 ton right? I wasn't credited the tonnage. In adition the ship did not display on the map as destroyed.

I also believe it cost me some reknown, although I'm not entirely sure about that.
