Default Maky's Great Idea

Who here thinks that we should set up a messaging group for when were in game? Maybe even voice chat if people have got headsets.

We could set up a message server On ICQ or something similar. I've been thinking about possibilities of the ICQ program modifying the message txt file in the SH3 installation folders. Not too sure if this is possible yet but it would be good no? I spotted a mod that emulates the Enigma machine but I have run out of download allowance so cant test it yet. I don't know whether you use it in game or not.
Would be cool getting messages sent from U-whatever and it being from someone here.
It would also be nice when you finish a patrol and check U-boat aces that would be scores from everyone.
I think it could be possible if we could think of a way of synchronizing everyone to a certain date.
Then again I havn't got the fogyest how time compression would pan out.

God I will sound stupid if this is already possible, I haven't even looked at how the Multyplayer games work. I'm guessing there just single missions?

Obviously we wouldn't be able to find each other in our campaigns but I don't see it as impossible to make a small program to connect us all.

What do you guys think?
My programming skills aren't amazing and it would take me a long time to do this on my own but hey, maybe there's help out there?

Just the late night bamblings of Maky, What you think?

I say we set up a Team Speak server, and just join it when we are playin SH3, so we can communicate with other members that are on.

Yeah but I would like everyone synchronized to add a level of competitiveness. would be sooo cool having everyones U-Boat tonnage score on display. The main server could be B.D.U.
Send out messages informing us when someone gets destroyed. Maybe we could set it up so instead of synchronizing everyone, we all get a certain amount of hours given per real life 24hour time frame so you would time compression cautiously.
At end of day everything gets reset and all U boat Ace scores get recorded and uploaded to subsim for all the world to see who is best that day.
Of course having your u boat sunk removes you from the days competition so you would be very cautious tactically because you would then have 24 hours to wait till you can get back in the game

Maybe the server could hand out a patrol grid reference that you had to stick to or you would be discharged for disobeying orders.

Quitting out the game would count as failure.
When let's say you sink a merchant it gets written to a .txt file right, well the program which would constantly check that file, takes note, sends the info to Subsim / B.D.U / server. The server then sends out a message to everyones program which would implant a message into your message .txt file, which would in turn inform you of U-whatevers success.

Maybe we could have it where you are allowed 1 game day per 1 real hour.
So you could maybe do a couple of patrols a day? Assuming we allow refueling and rearming as 1 hour instead of 20 days.
