Britain 'Arrogant' over Princes Posting?

I'm not really sure where Argentina are coming from on this....after all, Prince William will not be performing any ceremonial duties and is simply carrying out his duties like any other serviceman posted there

The Duke of Cambridge's posting to the Falkland Islands has been condemned by Argentina as a "provocative act".
Britain says Prince William's deployment for training as a helicopter rescue pilot is routine.
But Argentine official Sebastian Brugo Marco said Argentina could not ignore the "political content" of the mission.
The prince's tour next year will come shortly before the 30th anniversary of Argentina's defeat in the Falklands War.
Argentina still claims sovereignty over the islands, which it calls Las Malvinas.

Crazy Argentinians, no Spanish speaking person has ever lived on the islands in it's history except during the invasion, and the people who do live there want to be UK citizens, so exactly why do they think it should be theirs? It seems to revolve around the fact that the island is on a shelf under the ocean that projects from Argentina, does that mean that Britain should belong to France??? The bottom line is the people that live there own the place and they want it to be part of the UK.

Not true, after Britain left the islands in 1776 to go and sort out some unruly colonials wanting their own government and what not, Spain ruled there from Argentina until 1811. I could go into more detail about various claims on the islands by all sorts of nations but, it's Saturday and I really can't be bothered

Sure, sure, blame America! Every son has had an argument with thier mother. Instead of ill words, we used muskets and cannons.

On a serious note. Argentina needs to leave the young man alone. He seems like a nice boy. He is very non political and don't deserve to be drug into a 30 year old peeing match.

The darn heir apparent is willing to serve, yet here in America, the politicians run thier kids right into some posh college, they would not have had to grades to get into normally. Love him, hate him, have to respect him.
Argentina is still a little red in the behind after the Falklands war, where the Brits beat the might of of an entire nation with nothing more than a glorified task force. Carrier based Harriers vs Land based forces. Argentina should just acknowledge they are pathetic.


Argentinians get lucky with a few exorcet missiles and think they can smash my pal the Prince. Meh poor warriors all of them.

On a side note, is the Falklands considered a territory (like Puerto Rico or Guam for the USA) or is it considered a commonwealth nation in it's own right?

Territory, but it has its own Constitution.

Rgr that but it is also on the United Nations list of Non-Self-Governing Territories.

The UK is responsible for defence and foreign affairs.

Kinda reminds me of the way China gets annoyed every time a high level dignitary visits Taiwan. The 'renegade province' mentality must reign in Buenos Aires too.

I think it was a little irresponsible to highlight the fact he's going for a (very short) tour down South and when.

Should have been done quietly like Harry's tour.
