Don't shave, it's Movember

Read it in the local newspaper today. It's prostate cancer awarness month and you do it by shaving clean on november 1st and then let your mustache grow the whole month (anything else you can shave).

Well, I already started 4 weeks ago, the last time I shaved

The idea for Movember was sparked in 2003 over a few beers in Melbourne, Australia. The guys behind it joked about 80's fashion and decided it was time to bring the moustache back. In order to justify their Mos (Australian slang for moustache), they used their new looks to raise money for prostate cancer research… never dreaming that facial hair would ultimately lead to a global movement that would get men talking about a taboo subject – their health. 

A Mo Bro starts Movember – the month formerly known as November – clean shaven, and grows a moustache all month long, garnering support from friends and family in the form of donations. What’s more, a Mo Bro is a walking billboard for the cause as his new look opens the door for him to talk about cancers affecting men – making the moustache a symbol, much like the pink ribbon is for breast cancer. Each Movember culminates in a Gala Partè in major cities around the globe where Mo Bros dress up to match their Mo, channeling the likes of Tom Selleck, Gandhi and Ron Burgandy, vying for the ultimate accolade: Man of Movember.

While growing a Mo is left to the guys, Mo Sistas (women who support their guys) form an important part of Movember by recruiting Mo Bros, helping to raise funds and attending Movember events.

Already on it Didn't shave the beard off as that is at a length to my liking but, I did start with a fresh mo. Coming in quite nicely Really good excuse not to shave.

I used to stop shaving from November through February, at which point the the beard came off but the moustache remained until the first of July, at which time I shaved everything, including the hair. Last year I noticed that the beard was quite grey, and decided this year that I couldn't look at it anymore.

So, no beard this year.

I fear that I'd look like some sort of unearthly love child between Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin (The Von Ribbentrop child?) so I'll pass...

My fiancee hates the mustache, and so do I, but it's for a good cause.

Another forum I'm a member of always has a mahoosive thread on this every year.
I'm currently unshaven...er, for quite some time (2 years?) but run the clippers over a couple of times a fortnight.
Forgot again this year too. Never got around to being clean shaven then growing the top lip fuzz... takes longer than a month to look half decent anyways lol, but then I'm not one of these hairy neanderthal types with sandpaper 5 o'clock shadow by breakfast time
