Default Hi Mates

Hi mates! I have been involved in a few subsea capers to include recent work in the Med on salvage survey - and when I came home, darn if I lost my PC video card and am resetting up ONLY to find now there is a Silent Hunter 5!

Could someone brief me on their experience and should I ramp up to it!

Any and all advice from those who can offer will greatly appreciated!

Hey, Pappy! Welcome back! I didn't realize you'd been away that long - SH5 has been out for a year and a half!

Lots of folks like it. I don't have it, so I'll let them fill you in.

Good to see your name again.

I have been playing SH5 from its release and can say it offers great game play.
When it first came out it was very poor. This has really hampered the game as many think it is still poor without trying it again (or ever).
But now with the correct mod list it is fantastic.

See here for some game play:-

I got it when it first came out and was very disappointed. It went backwards in several areas of functionality IMO. So, I gave up and put it on the shelf...

But I started to try it again a few weeks ago, and with the mods available I think it is pretty good and now better than SH4.

Thanks for the links and info! Right now my SH3 had been running flawlessly in my opinion and at my age I hate to monkey with something that works well. I will continue to research SH5 but until all the bugs are worked out I may sit on the sidelines!

The mere immersion of it is totally worth it. Being able to walk throughout the boat and out onto the deck as you sail along next to a dolphin. Some very cool moments.
