Questions About renown
How exatally dose the game reward renown? I've looked in the basic config file and it sates that sinking an allied ship eaquals one renown, what I'm confused about is that 1 renown per ship sunk or is a certain amount of renown awarded based on a ships tonage?

I believe the number you're looking at in the .cfg is a multiplier. Each class of ship has its own renown value, if the renown value is 250 and you sink an Allied ship of that class you get a renown award of 250 x 1.
As far as I can tell there are things other than tonnage that figure into a class's renown value, for instance whether it's a warship or merchant or (heaven forbid) a hospital ship, whose renown value would end up being such a large negative number when applied to your career stats that it would probably end said career if you ever sank one. Also your realism percentage comes into play. It's not linear, like percentage times renown is what you get. But there is some other function behind it that calculates how much you get. I just don't have a clue what it is exactly.

I always was under the impression that it was simply the realism percentage.
(renown value of the ship) x (friendly/enemy/neutral multiplier) x (realism percentage) Friendly ships give you -10 multiplier, enemies are 1, and neutrals are 0 or -1, I can't remember.

Good point, mookie, I had forgotten about that.
You only get the maximum possible renown for a ship if you are playing at 100% realism. If you are playing at 75% realism, you get 75% of the maximum renown possible, and so on. |

There is a formula base:
FINAL RENOWN = {base ship renown value} * { (0.75 * realism %) + 0.25 } Say you sink a 250 Renown ship and are playing at 50% realism, your calculation is as follows: FINAL RENOWN = {250} * { (0.75 * 0.50) + 0.25 } FINAL RENOWN = {250} * { (0.375) + 0.25 } FINAL RENOWN = {250} * { 0.625 } FINAL RENOWN = 156.25 renown So if you play at 0% realism, you will still get 25% of the renown or 62.5 renowm. Welcome aboard!!! ![]() |
