Gotta earn it, or use a mod that allows you to start with it :P

Specifically, you have to get promoted (twice, I believe), and survive until late 1944 with a good mission record.

I havent tried this uboat yet. I was sailing IX D2 and it is really slow, so getting walter uboot is a good idea.

Yeah but the walter turbine depends on a liquid fuel (peroxide I think, i'm too lazy right now to look it up) and it only lasts so much time. Gives you a hell of a speed boast, though, usefull perhaps to evade pursuing escorts - by the means of speeding underwater at 20+ knots. But most escorts can do that or better, and you are going to be loud as hell.
