Default SH3/GWX GOLD and SH4 Gold Problems

Is there any patch or fix for SH3/GWX 3 Gold that will stop it from crashing when attempting to open a saved game. It'll let me start a mission then after a day of playing and saving I try reloading a saved segment and get the message that there's a problem which causes the program to close. Out of frustration I started a Career in SH4 Gold and unfortunately three quarters through a mission after saving then trying to reopen I get the same message. Any ideas or suggestions to correct these problems. I did completely uninstall the reinstall both programs and still get the error. I'm on a Windows 7 unit. Thanks

Hi JC,

You can reload from the last visit in port when you encounter a CTD. So you do not need to restart a full career. Also you can reload from your latest save and if that crashed the one before etc provided you made multiple saves during a mission. CTDs can be caused by saves near ships/convoys and near harbor. Also MODs can cause these problems.

Uninstall and perform a registry clean, you can use the free trial version here:

http://www.regvac.com/fregvac.htm

Now go to the GWX website (click on my sig) and follow the installation details to the letter.

Seeing as your using W7 (as am I) install to either ProgramFiles (x86) or D/Games.

I don't know how relavent this is, but I had the same problem.

I'd be halfway through an attack on a convoy, and have to stop for whatever reason.

I'd save and exit.

When trying to reload, it would crash, or the computer would lock-up, forcing a hard reboot.

It was so fustrating that I uninstalled GWX 3.0.

What I came to find out, just a few months ago was, you can't save a game as I did. You have to be on the surface with nothing around.

Then you can save and exit.

I don't know if this is the same thing you are running into, but before I learned that secret, I couldn't make it past 15 missions.

I just left on my 41st mission.

Yup, too close to other units. Make sure you are well away from them, atleast 35km or so. (when in doubt, do a hydrophone check by listening yourself) Could be more for SH4 (40+ km, or 27+ nm ) And save while on the surface.

Agreed....don't save whilst submerged.
