Screw all other sports, a German woman won the air guitar world championship!

For the uninitiated - air guitarists don't actually have an instrument in their hands. The idea is to convince viewers that you are actually playing a guitar - even though there isn't one present.

Aline Westphal from Hildesheim won the title late Friday night in front of thousands of excited fans at the competition in the north Finnish city of Oulu. Perhaps most appropriately she won over the jury with songs like "The Pretender" from Foo Fighters and the Rage Against the Machine's "Without a Face."

Westphal, the German air guitar champion, beat out 17 contenders including America's Justin "Nordic Thunder" Howard as well as Czech rival Veronica Mullerova, who took second and third respectively.

Damn! I was doing Air guitar to Jimi Hendricks songs back in my childhood days jamming it out in front of the mirror! Till me dad went out and brought me my first air rifle and demanded I do something useful with my life like go and shoot some rabbits or something. I think he was relieved I traded the air guitar for the air rifle.
