Default Caught "Wounded Bear" in RSRD(screen shots)

TMo 2.1 TMO RSRD USS Plunger-Porpoise Class.100 realism(left external view on for views of the battles)

While on submerged periscope patrol(following early war doctrine)Caught the damaged Shokaku heading for Japan after the Battle of the Coral Sea.The two Fubuki DD's I added to her(oddly enough she is unescorted in the "stock" version of RSRD) gave me a fit but two of four fish hit her(two prematurely exploded) and caused her to list, while I turned my stern tubes on her and was plotting, the Shokaku went down. The two DD's delivered an accurate, vicious depth charging after that is highly unusual for early war escorts( I did set the to ELITE but still its early war), esp in rough seas. This counter attack was tough to get away from but after 9 hours they gave up.I surfaced and am heading home for repairs and liberty.

Some shots...not in order.

I caught wounded bear in RSRD. I was in the bungo doing some battle, setting up on a convoy, had some damage and noticed a single contact. I didn't think much of it, figured a lone merchant and would attack the convoy, then, I realized it was the Shokoku making around 24kts.

I couldn't get in a good position. I hauled flank and had to shoot at about 7000 yards night suraface using slow M14's or it would get past me. I scored a few hits and stopped it.

The convoys escorts came my way, so I moved to the other flank to finish the carrier off. I set up on the surface at about 4000 yards and let 3 go. Two hit, when WHAM, a circle runner hit me. The escorts came my way, I had massive damage, had to dive when they let lose with the DG's...I couldn't stop the uncontrollable dive...I got a carrier sunk message right before I died.

I thought strange, a lone carrier, but checked RSRD and the dates and it was the Shokoku returning from Coral Sea.

Thanks. How close that depth charge was to my boat is a bit spooky, luckily it drift further away before going off, still caused damage but nothing catastrophic.

Yea think maybe lurker read somewhere it was unescorted.I've read it had at least one Fubuki DD.I put one in and gave other a 50.% chance of spawning so it would vary.Unescorted carrier is just too easy of a target, even if it is moving at 22 knots.I had a lot against me on this once, only thing is I happen to be ahead of it when sonar picked it up, had I been behind or on flanks, would not have been able to get a favorable position, esp in a Porpoise class. The got lucky that in rough seas, only two of four fish prematurely exploded, so two hit and were set deep, they busted the keel in two places.Luck and maybe a little skill
