Default Hacked in 60 Secs. Thieves Could Steal Cars via Text Messages

Forget your car keys? Soon it won't make a difference, as long as you have your laptop. An interesting viral Web video making the rounds since the Black Hat cybersecurity conference earlier this month depicts two researchers from iSEC Partners (a San Francisco-based security firm) breaking into a 1998 Subaru Outback via their PC. In less than 60 seconds, they wirelessly find the car's security system module, bypass it and start the engine remotely.

Watch this:

A hidden all kill switch. Still to.simple for Hi-Techy.

A few turns on a 5\8s spring loaded visable bolt and circuit is complete.

Oh! And startup and off I go in 2010 Vette.

Now Retired this, is my everyday driver with, top down weather permitting.

Spotles driveing record too. 45yrs old, dual home owner,no mortgages,Excellent credit and have been with same Home,Auto, Life, and Boat Insurance Co. for 17 yrs.

Our Agent has been with them for 14 of them. Very important. Wife and I both 17yrs.. She has the same stats above as me.

I check every 3yrs and and a few are a bit lower but, not by much. And they were quite a bit higher in previous yrs.

We also have our Medical Insurance thru them nobodys even close to the Great coverage we have.

We're very fortunate over the years.

This, THIS is why I hate the increase of electronics in modern cars. Yes it may be more convenient...when it works.
Gone are the days when you could open the bonnet up and not need a degree in electronics to fix your motor.

As my Dad put it: "Why do that make cars so you can not repair them any more. 12 years of owning an old Landrover and in that time only one breakdown but repaired the next day. A 53 reg fiesta cost £70 for a man to come out and he could not find the fault."
