Hello,
After reading the wonderful book of Admiral Charles Lockwood, translated into French under the title "Commando dans la mer du Japon" in which he recounts the development of FMS, which led to "Operation Barney", I wanted whether this device has been modded for SH4-TMO? This use could be pretty darn exciting. Thank you. Gibus

Someone tried it once, never worked well for me and many others if I recall.Operated by making mines have a sound file like a ship except it was a beep so when you put your sonar on the object, it gave a beep. Was cool but caused a big FPS hit and no one could ever get it to work just right. |

Yes, it is an active sonar to detect minefields.

In real life the active sonar gives the enemy just as much information about you as you get about them. It isn`t highly reccomended and should only be used as a last resort.

FM circuits for sonar mine detection use a LF short pulse echo within a arch either side of the sub and could detect mines up to 600 yards. It was used later war with success and obviously some failures, mostly to get through the straits of japan.
TMO had it, but as Bubble said it still doesn't work and your frames really drop because mines are no longer static targets in the game. You come into minefield, it's like coming in contact with 100 ships. |
