Default Should I have my Hatches open or closed at startup?

I am messing around with the DD_interior.anm and DD_interior.dat files and also the interior files and I am wondering if I should have my hatches open or close when I start a mission, or career?

What was realistic? Were the hatches open all throughout the ship when they left port? Or were they closed? I can always open them myself.....

Open. They were even open during attack operations. Only closed for absolute emergencies, as far as I know.

May be unrealistic but I have mine closed, after all my bed is in there, and keeping the smell from Frenssen away from my nostrils is paramount!

Plus there is a modest collection of men's magazines in there...so...its private you know?
