I agree with all except:

8. Live sporting events
I enjoy the ballparks. Traffic and expensive beer is just part of it all. I do not buy the expensive beer personally.

I've never paid $200 for a pair of sneakers in my life and have no intention of ever doing so

I'm with you on that Jim. $29.99 is about as high as I go. Cutting grass and other things I do in my sneakers has them ruined in a few month or so.

Same in the US but put a basketball players name on a pair and they are now being sold at $200.00!

For $200 I'd expect a share certificate in the manufacturers business

Not trainers, but I have spent £200 on a pair of shoes before. They rocked. nicest shoes I ever had. Mind you, was horrified when I recently discovered you couldn't get a pair of Chuck Taylor Allstars for a tenner anymore.

Also happy to spend on going to the football, on decent jeans and on smokes for when I'm drinking even though I have 'officially stopped.'

'Mail order meat' sounds like a euphemism...just sayin'.

Me, neither. To be a responsible dog owner, you get your dog from either a) a rescue or b) a respectable breeder*.

The former is dirt cheap, and is a great way to get a pet dog. The latter is quite expensive, and pretty much only makes sense if you're looking for something specific, like a show dog or agility dog.

* In my mind, a "respectable breeder" is a high standard. It includes things like temperament testing, early socialization, vetting potential adopters, and a guarantee/requirement to take the dog back if it doesn't work out with the adopter's family. Very few meet this standard -- backyard breeders and puppy mills need not apply.
