Unlawfully Foreclosed Couple "Forecloses" on Bank of America

I put the "Forclosures" in quotes because, technically, this more of a lien than a forclosure, but, whatever you call it, chalk one up for the little guy. There was a similar incident quite a few years ago in Los Angeles when a woman who had won a judgement against the city found herself helpless to collect when the city threw up a wall of red tape and bureaucratic obstacles against her. The sum was small, only a few hundred or so, as I recall, but the city just wouldn't cut the check. Despondent, she returned to the court judge who had decided her case and asked what she should do. He said "Why don't you ask for a lien on a city property; if they refuse to pay you can sell the property to satisfy the debt." She was surprised she could do that and asked what she could put a lien on; the judge said any property owned by the city. She half-jokingly asked if she could put a lien on City Hall. The judge said "Yes" and isuued an order putting a lien on City Hall. She went to the Sheriff's Office as advised by the judge, and turned up at City Hall with a deputy to serve the Mayor's office with the lien. Needless to say, it caused a bit of a commotion in the City Hall and, after verifying the lien was, indeed, enforcable, the speed with which a check was cut for the woman would have put an Indy racer to shame...
