It's amazing how little is really known about early history (pre-history?). What strikes me as odd is that the victims were burried in a mass grave covered by stone rubble. Hostile raiders would not have bothered to do this and I would have thought any surviving friendly population would have rather attempted to rebuild the walls. Perhaps they can learn more as they study the site.
