Here, before we totally hijack the hobbit thread.

Regarding your horse, if your horse can pass the field test, then you can bring your horse out. Every once in a while, we have a horse get spooked and throw the rider.

Poorly-trained horses. What's the field test?

I believe it tests to see if you can control your horse and your horse won't freak out from the noise-commotion.

Here's how the Navy does it:

He's okay with small-arms. Not so sure about cannons, since he's never seen one. Are there classes or something one might attend to desensitize equines to cannons?

Still looking over all that but so far I don't have any problem with it.

Respect for the pun, btw.

So when do I expect to see you out here then?

Your horse has a gray jacket, right?

I could use you for our big paintball supergame, at the end of the month.

Later than I'd like but sooner than never. My dad and I have been discussing this for years. We've always wanted to join a Civil War re-enactor unit, and even says he'll pay for the uniforms and such. On the off-chance that he actually does it, I hope you have slots open for infantry or artillery, because he is a terrible horseman and there is no way he is going to pass any of the tests.

Regardless, I'll probably start with a unit closer to home, maybe the 7th Texas cavalry.

He doesn't now, but he's going to get one. What, you think I'd fight for the damnyankees?

Wish I could make it, but one month is not enough advance notice for my employer, especially since I already requested my vacation for September. It would be nice, though. I had a great time last go-round, minus Dan kicking my ass twice. ****ing Airsoft players
