Default Sub won't surface?

Well this is a new one. I'm playing the Happy Times campaign and there's been two occasions now where I've gone down about 100m or so and can't get the boat to surface whatsoever. It either holds steady or just continues to slowly sink.

Anyone else encounter this? I'm playing the unmodded Steam version.

ehh this game is glitchy. Try reloading your game and see if that works.

Well I guess there really wasn't anything to "fix."

I'm almost totally new to sub sims, and I'm no expert on how U-boats actually worked, so for some reason I didn't realize you need a certain amount of momentum (and patience) to get the boat to rise from extreme depths.

Basically, I was expecting it to pop right back up like it does when I'm surfacing from a shallow dive. I was trying to surface from like 100+m with virtually no speed because I thought the destroyers would detect me.

So yeah...pretty dumb on my part

you dont need speed for that. you can emergency surface, which blows compressed air into all the ballast tanks and lets you float up like a balloon.

That's what I thought! How do you emergency surface then?

Cool tyvm I'm gonna try this. In the back of my mind I thought there was a way U-boats could do something like that.
