Thanks for response.
I meet minimum requirements according to sh3, BUT CPU is not fast as desirable. Could this be the source. I would then have to giveup on sh3 for now. |

You can try lowering the particles - in the options after first load
Try that before giving up completely SH3 is a memory hungry game and does make the CPU work |

HI
I suspect you are running out of available memory. End all non essential programs before running SH3 and increase your Page File size, aka Virtual Ram. On XP > Control Panel > System > Advanced > Performance Settings > Advanced > Virtual Memory Change. Under Custom, set it to 3056, click set and reboot. Also, if XP is automatically rebooting you, do this: Control Panel > System > Advanced > Startup & Recovery > Untick Automatically Restart. Doing this will tell you whether XP is at fault or whether Sh3 is at fault because you should get an error report following the failure of SH3.

I had the same problem after putting in a new ATI graphics card.
I'd try to start the game and the computer would reboot. I tried a uninstall/reinstall. Still didn't work. I then noticed that if I tried to change the screen resolution on the computer(without the game running) it would reboot. I downloaded an updated driver from ATI and everything has worked fine. It seems that SH3 runs at a different resolution than the card was set at and when the game tried to start at whatever the resolution is set at, the graphics card would wig out and my computer would reboot. Just a thought. ![]()

changed page size to 3056.
lowered particles in options to 50%. was able to complete first Naval Academy exam without a crash. don't know if page size or particles was actual fix, but not looking gift horse in mouth. thanks to all for help. |

does anyone know why it is, whenever I get done sinking an enemy ship, and I push the "surface cruise mode" button, the game crashes?? anyway to fix that? It's now my SOP to save before doing anything as soon as a ship is credited as a kill.

Yes, don't push that button!
It's a known bug in the game. Those buttons sink ships! Manually move the guys around. Double clicking the compartment will staff it. Right clicking the compartment will select it and then you can double click crew members and they will go there. And don't save right near a kill! It too can cause bugs, as in the ship reincarnates. And there's some more bugs to do with that. Make sure your 50k from anything, on the surface, before you save. |
