Default A question about reinstalling

I started playing again about 3 weeks ago after a long break from the game. For the first 2 and a half weeks the game was completely stable but over the last 3-4 days I've been experiencing CTD's whenever I use TC. I have modded the game with some graphical and audio mods but none of the supermods. I can't figure out what could be causing this but I'm thinking somehow something got messed up while trying out different mods with JSGME. My question is if I reinstall can I keep my career and if so what files apart from my career folder do I need to copy and keep?

The uninstaller has an option to save the files, but it's always best to also backup the SH3 folder in the My Documents folder, and re-insert the career folders into the new /MyDocs/SH3 folder under the new install.

It is possible the graphical mods are a bigger drain on your systems resources than it can handle.

A list of your system and mods would help come to a definitive answer/solution.

Thanks guys for the help

my basic system specs are:
Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1 (build 7601) 32 Bit
2.93 gigahertz Intel Core i3 530
3Gb Ram
NVIDIA GeForce G210

the only large mod I have installed is IABL's Merchant Fleet Mod. Could this be causing the issue when using TC?

Yes it could, which is not to say that it is, but yes it could. I can't run that one at all.

My system is quite a bit older than yours, but the 32-bit part might also be a problem. Also, is your system single-core? Also, I'm unfamiliar with Invidia cards. How much memory on the card?

Of course since you're using JSGME you could simply remove MFM and see how it runs.

Thanks Sailor Steve I will try disabling it as soon as I make it back to Kiel, with no TC it may take a while
