Default Airsoft

Just wondering if anyone out there plays airsoft??? I started about 18 months ago, so much better than paintball lol. Anyways, I just got a new front end for my L85

It's actually just an M4 CASV unit which somehow fits on with very little modification, they don't yet do an airsoft version of the actual L85 RIS kit. The rifle is just an AA R85, the cheapest L85 out there lol, and as such the piston just broke, the stock one sucked anyway though so it's a good excuse to get a new one

So anyone else got any gear they wanna show off?

Pardon my ignorance, but what is the difference between the paintball and the Airsoft?

I assume that Airsoft does not shoot paintballs

Does it shoot any other type of marking projectile. If not, how is the "score" kept?

No airsoft uses 6mm bbs, it works purely on an honour system, you just have to be honest and acknowledge when you've been hit. Plus they have marshalls walking around so if they see anyone not taking hits they just ban them lol. It does work surprisingly well.

Since playign ArmA been watching some rifle clips and airsoft guns among them.

There was this really good and well amde SVD Dragunov airsoft gun that some guy tested in a real gun indoor range(and no it wasn't your usual cheap looking airsoft Dragunov) and it was a real temptation but I knew I wouldn't be able to afford that .

Watched a clip of this New Zealand resident testing his REAL civilian Dragunov in his backyard. Awwww wish I was that lucky .

Nothing beats firing a real gun I guess and a day in the range with marksman rifle with scope could put a smile on any man's face .
especially with a picture of either his ex wife or boss down on the bull's mark LoL.

I play occasionaly, with rented weapons. I like it better than paintball because I get to play with mock-ups of real life weapons and they are easier to wield than paintball, because there is no CO2 and ammo canister. But picking out a team is hard, because of the fair play involved in keeping score. And we have no marshalls here, usually just two guys keeping check that we dont brake the guns and kill eachother with hand to hand combat.

On a related note, me and my friends are curently in the planing proces to build a massive airsoft/paintball polygon or obstacle course. construction of a whole slum village and a wild west street are being planned. We already have land so now we are aquiring material
Dont worry, I'll post a thread about it when it is finished somewhere between september 2010 and march 2011

Those guns look very very real to the naked eye ...

Can you imagine being stopped for a tail light out with the peace officer seeing those in the back seat?

I would like to know more about airsoft, please ...

I see airsoft guns in the local ads here in America for like $29.95 on sale, but they have red things where the barrel is.

Is this red thing normal or some kind of USA law?

What does FPS mean in regards to airsoft and do they hurt at close range like those nasty paintball shots do.

Speaking of paintball have you seen the naked girls on PBTV playing paintball? My my those things leave bruises in nice places on a naked girl.

Ok for you geetrue

FPS feet per second

In america all airsoft weapons must have orange tip UK must be a highlighted colour unless a member of ukara site

Provided you can explain it i doubt the police officer will have any issue

wowser "hardball" long time since i was playing, but i have used loads on time on it..

Startet for fun 1992 in 93 we got the basic team ready and in 95 we startet to play et survival game style (sleeping ourdoors in weekends) got involved in a fairly big scenario that ran for 3 years and us being number 1 score all the years. Had load of challenges in urban speedball, we were not good there, but normaly we had a rematch over a weekend our style and won.

1999 we ran into problems with the local police, they were werry close arresting us for paramillitay training (sounds fun, was not)

2000 we all joined national guard same division and same unit.Year after we got transfered to infantry. 2005 we had a closing meeting and décided to close the "club". work, kids and wifes made it imposible to keep up the dedication level needed, both in hardball and national guard.

"Hardball" and our style of play have given me memorys that is priceless. The training we got helped me loads in millitary and national guard service and my best friends to day are some of the old members of "Særlig opklarings gruppe" (SOG)

We prefered survival game. Sleeping outdoor, night fights booby traps and insertions. But many had fun just using the sunday at a factory site.

I think the only problem would be if you suddenly reached for your airsoft in your enthusiasm to show the police officer how cool it is..... Bad Thing

Since playing I'm ArmA 2 I'm rather interested in getting an airsoft gun well actually I want the real one, an SVD Dragunov but that's way out of my league.

And so I've been looking for a nice SVD dragunov airsoft gun and
found two of them

A Real Sword SVD Dragunov which is sold at US$750.00 ONLINE which I guess would be substantially more expensive here.
And a CA SVD priced at US$700.00 in a local store here.

...and that stopped me from exploring further. Damn these are expensive.
Not to mention when a sales women I saw on youtube shooting a can at some distance which I don't think that far actually smiled after hitting the said can. I mean a 700 bucks toy gun to shoot at a short distance? Maybe when my Maddoff scheme worked out

I guess I would have to be content wtih ArmA and Arrowhead meanwhile at least in those the distance are realistic

Anyway this whole exploring thing has brought me an idea since what I actually wanted is a realistic looking rifle and one which shoots like the real one ballistic wise so there must be a way to make these guns to shoot virtual bullet. That is a realistic feel and look of a gun but which fire a virtual bullet aimed at a specially made electronic target that would register hit and spread for accuracy and if needed to register misses and gives off warning tone to simulate hearing the gun firing. An added realistic bang(sound) would be terrific but not that necessary. Of course this limits the application of the gun but the device could be made to be attached to players allowing players to engage fellow players at realistic distances with realistic ballistic trajectory something that's done in the real Army exercises.

So can anyone tell me why this idea is not workable? or haven't been implemented?

I'd love to play Airsoft but it's banned out here in Australia. Apparently there was meant to be some hearing to discuss the revision of the ban at the beginning of this year... Will have to check up on the Airsoft sites again, but I'm willing to bet the Australia one remains unchanged.
Otherwise I would've got a few arsenals of Sniper Rifles (I'm more like a sniper in some ways), not to mention SVD's (However that may change soon if our good Laser Tag sites gets Frag Tag aka military/survival laser tag with real gun sounds and realistic guns, hope they'd make a SVD... here's a site link if anyone's curious http://www.fragtag.com.au/ )

Anyway, I talk too much. It's been a while since I talked of Airsofts
