Hand salute, CPL. Buckles, and thank you.

If you know someone - anyone - who is a veteran of any of history's wars, get their stories. These men and women of all nations have much to say of their experience, but rarely are given a chance to do so. Become their audience, so that their stories can become part of our world history; so that our descendants can learn of the feats, both tremendous and ignoble, done by our own families and friends.

We lost three of our last four vets in the same year a few years ago, as I understand the last one lives in Australia.

Farewell Frank Buckles.

All I can think of to say is that it's a shame. An inevitable shame, perhaps, but a shame nonetheless. We will never again have the benefit of first-hand interpretation from our WW1 vets. Let's hope we did well enough with the opportunity we had.

Rest easy, Cpl. Buckles. May you and your comrades find the peace in heaven that you fought for on earth.

May his soul find shelter in the Hand of the Creator.

Thank you sir, for all that you and others of your generation did.
