Default [REQ] SH Pirate Ships Mod!

BrawWDsiDE!!

I remember the pirate ghost ship egg found within the sh game a ways back
and ever since wondered why no one has been working on any pirate ship
based surface warfare total conversion mods for silent hunter 4 or 5?

I think this now could be possible just by looking at the Bismarck mod..

all we would need is a couple good moders & modelers to create a few detailed pirate ship variations & stations.

1) replace ww2 merchants with 1700 a.d. merchants

2) replace ww2 escorts with 1700 royal navy battleships

3) yank out anything ww2 related

4) create bridge rooms, crows nest & compartments

rather then torpedos we would use broadside deck cannons!
rather then renown we would gather treasure!

I can see it now beautiful sailboats clashing on the waves on a voyage
into the unknown Great surface war battles that take place when running
into convoys Sinking & Sending merchants to Davy Jones' Locker

feel free to express your interests or opinions & lets hope some of
our excellent moders decide to take up this project.

I was thinking perhaps an idea of something encouraging & positive to breathe life into a game that is otherwise getting very dull and boring to some..

yah know, encouraging words for using this great games engine for other things rather then being stuck with only a ww2 setting as it sits here collecting dust as it is.

so rather then saying boo don't make this.. how about rather you say
why not? and try something different for a change & for funs sake.

well, our best modder have some big problems to simply add some boats... Do you really think it s possible to do a total convertion mod for SH5.... May be if you have acces to the core file, and i don t think it's possible...

I did make a post about this in the early SH IV days...










If you like pirat ships i will recomend Pirates of the carribean (sea dogs 2) with the mod build on top. Great fun

yes it is possible but only for some moders here.. like lurker, privateer, TDW & many others..
they would have to be encouraged/inspired enough to make it worth their time and efforts.

however them dropping whatever they are doing to work on it prob isn't likely..
but perhaps some might see this as a fun project for the near future who knows..

have a look at the bismarck mod utube clearly showing surface warfare
mods in action

this mod is working proof that you *CAN* take control of battleships using
battleship cannons/deck guns rather then torpedos

I do understand what you want, but i bet POTC Build 13 will give you all that and more, just go to youtube

There are so few real SH5 modders out there and many of them are trying to get SH5 into a shape that the game deserves.

To get a new ship into the game you first need a 3d model that fits into the engine (takes a long time to make)

Because of the structure(i only know the SH 4 part of it) you have to create a ship based on a clone of a submarine. You cant get the damedge model to work 100% because some of the files needed are hardcoded so you have to work around these files and that creates the messed up damedge zones etc.

SH 5 is stil in the werry early stages of modding where most modders stil are trying to work out how to mod the game. Since no official information is around they have to learn this the hard way Trial and error.

Your idea is pretty cool, but i cant se anything like this being worked on before the modders have figured out the game structure. (its a mess of leftover files from atleast SH 4 i personaly gave up on SH 5 when i noticed this junkyard of files)

If you want big sailing ships with big iron cannons and gun smoke, even boarding and raing towns, Just get a copy of POTC, mod it up with Build 13. That will take you 2 hours in total, your idea is atleast 2 years out for the SH 5 platform

yeah I'm aware there are other pirate ship games out there
and thanks for the suggestion btw maybe some day I will think of shopping for one.

However I was thinking outside the box currently just what we could do with SH4&5.

The SH4/5 engine: whole Ocean Sailing Sim experience & graphics still seem
to me be the best out there so why not use it for something else?

There are plenty of things to do with sailing on the surface besides chasing down other ships
we have dingies that can paddle to land so why not simply change the uniforms & objectives
from drop off sailors/ supplies -to- bury/retreive some treasure

rather then patrolling grids to search for convoys why not attack some armadas?

by replacing some models & ports with sailing ships & sailing ports you get something
new & completely different.

use your Imaginations!! we have a forum full of skills here people and I DEMAND MORE!

I wouldn't mind yanking it out & re texturing it for a test model in my spare time
but which .dat is she in any clues?

not that the model looks as good as this one but atleast it's something!
