French forces have been active throughout north africa for the past 50 years and played a key role in the last civil war in "Côte d'Ivoire".
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civil_w...rench_violence of course, unless US troops are involved, no one pays attention... ![]()

BR is right. Since we pulled out of Africa, no-one other than China has been more active over there.

Ivory Coast is the world largest cocoa producer with ca. 35 % market share.
The unrest in Ivory Coast threatens Europe's supply of cocoa. The price for cocoa beans is already going up. The price for chocolate bars will soon go up, too. We need to help the people in Ivory Coast military to get rid of their president who can't accept that he has lost the election and who wants to install a dictatorship. Freedom and Democracy for the people of Ivory Coast! |

The lowliest aspiration a man could have and the most stupid one is to become a tin pot dictator.
In effect becoming the impediment and obstruction to societal progress and obstruction to the betterment of his fellow countrymen and to the detriment of his nation especially in the long run. But fools can't help themselves. If they knew they would cease being one. When a state is being run like a criminal syndicate it is then a criminal syndicate instead a sovereign and nothing more. Of course from these people mouth comes the word stability and strong government. But what kind of stability that relies on terrorizing its own citizens into debilitating and even crippling fear. A very fragile one I must say. If you give a man his freedom and bigger stake he will fight like no other for his country which he loves. Multiply that single man by some millions and that nation will fly! A successful dictatorship at best is a saggy success. Dim though seemingly thought at its brightest. There's nothing like happy population.
