First I thought: great, finally a flic about WW1 submarine warfare, but as we are not flooded with sub films this is also cool - and an interesting story.
Seems that the Laconias are the kismet ships of the u-boat war...

There is only a slight fear which I have: Franka Potente is listed as 2nd (co?) star. As much as i appreciate her talent (and looks ), I am anxious that this could mean that a love drama is included.
In Germany they did this in any TV movie about the war. The producers seem to target all audiences - and have seen and appreciated "Pearl Harbor" way too much.

Been waiting for this for ages.

It was supposed to be shown in 2010. But I suppose a week late is not to bad .

The first episode has now been given a slot in BBC 2's schedule:

No mention yet of when part two is to be shown.

Written by Alan Bleasdale IIRC. Interesting choice for something like this. not normally the sort of thing I would expect from him.

Don't get me wrong. Bleasdale is a wonderful writer. Both 'Boys from the Black Stuff' and 'GBH' are are up there with the very best TV drama to ever come out of Britain. If nothing else this new drama will be astoundingly well written.

Well it was way to long and there were a number of issues wrong with it.
