Jack Churchill
![]() http://www.badassoftheweek.com/churchill.html Well Jack Churchill had some ideas. He not only refused to give ground, but he launched small-scale guerrilla raids and surprise attacks on German positions and supply depots. Riding his trusty motorcycle and armed only with a mothertrucking bow and arrow and a Scottish broadsword, he would assault the Germans, catch them completely off-guard, and ruin their day medieval-style. When asked by a fellow officer why Churchill insisted on carrying the broadsword into battle with him, he responded, "In my opinion, sir, any officer who goes into action without his sword is improperly dressed". Quote:
As the ramps fell on the first landing craft, Churchill leapt forward from his position playing The March of the Cameron Men on bagpipes, threw a grenade, and began running towards the bay. Quote: Churchill gave the signal to attack by cutting down the enemy Feldwebel (sergeant) with his barbed arrows, becoming the only known British soldier to have felled an enemy with a longbow in the course of the war. Quote: Churchill was unsure what Commando Duty entailed, but he signed up because it sounded dangerous. Quote: Only Churchill and six others managed to reach the objective. A mortar shell killed or wounded everyone but Churchill, who was playing "Will Ye No Come Back Again?" on his pipes as the Germans advanced. He was knocked unconscious by grenades and captured. Quote: Churchill was said to be unhappy with the abrupt end of the war, saying: "If it wasn't for those damn Yanks, we could have kept the war going another 10 years!" There is nothing like good Cutlery!
![]() I carried at lest 6 blades while in the AirBorne. I always carried 2 before enlisting. (Upside down on my belt Gerber Boot Knives) Most of my Mates carried Guns. They were afraid to fire them and took beatings. I was never afraid to pull my blades and took way less beatings. I also carried a very thin Blade in my sleeve made out of an old file. That saved my arse several times. I'd rather be shot then cut myself. Blades invoke an age old fear when pressed to your throat. Maybe that's why I have several Swords around along with short, close Combat Knives. But no Guns in the House. I did enuff killing with Guns. If you invade my Home? It will be close and personnal! |
