Swindon??!!

As the title suggests,all the usual ports and important places are on the UK map in SH3/GWX,what I cant understand is why on earth Swindon is also??
Its not near the coast or anything

Am I missing something that is vitally important to 'The Battle of The Atlantic' that occurred in 'Swindon'

I must hasten to say that this is not a slur on 'Swindon' in any way,Ive never been there and for all I know it and the people thereof are lovely
