Default To many problems...

Hi all,

I bought this game a week ago after playing silent hunter 3 and I actually think number 5 is better in all areas but I think ive had it now with all the crashes and minor bugs. Each time it crashes it seems to be a new bug, plus it seems to erase my save game data sometimes so I have to go back to the last auto save ( if it works ). I actually started a patrol and then after a couple of hours the game crashed after i had been overwriting my saves and i could never load this save game again from this profile as it always crashed. Its really poor because you never know if its going to happen after how many hours you might put into the game. It needs another patch badly. Its a shame because its such a good game, but if it keeps crashing all the time its unplayable.

Just to point out another bug. I could not enter my boat when surfaced and when i went to periscope depth it sunk with me and the watch crew on the tower. No big deal i will reload, but i still could not get in so i restarted the game and then it worked. Also ive loaded a save to find enemy ships not their anymore.

If anyone has any solutions or is having the same issues please help because i really love the game but at the moment its just to broken.

I'm a newbie to SH5 as well, but I think what you described is regular boat behaviour when in very heavy seas. It won't let you open the hatch to enter the conning tower, if the hatch is covered with water. This may happen also with good weather, when running decks awash.

Also it may be another bug that prevents boat from realising it's surfaced (then it thinks it's still submerged, and for example doesn't take in fresh air) or that it is submerged (the watch crew stays on the bridge underwater and so on).

Well... these are like... they happen.

Welcome Aboard, SilentSnake

First question are you using any mods?, if so what ones?

I follow three rules about saving,

Do not save when near enemy ships, Do not save when underwater, and I don't save when close to land.

I just got the game, and installed a crapload of mods.

I am enjoying myself.. or was until I was in route to a mission and CTD.

I've been playing SH5 since release. Only had two CTD (and my system is way under the min specs needed for the game), one from listening to other subs on hydrophones (fixed with a mod now) and had a CTD from using the Evironment Mod. Removed the "climatezones.tga" file from the mod and no more CTD.

Oh and i follow the save ettiqute rules posted by wolfling04.
Do not save withing 50km of a port, ship or while submerged.

It was the environment mod doing it, so I disabled it.
