changing speed and trouble with teleporting

I have to slow down speed of game to around 8 to able to give commands for speed,periscope depth etc.I have problems teleporting at the worst times,as in destroyer nearby or aircraft closing.I tried CTL T,but I usually keep messing around and can manually go to the attack periscope so I can dive.Crash dive is exceptionally slow,so I usually use periscope depth..I use DarkWraith's 4.8,but not the 0.0.29,as then you really bring the heat,and it's a coin toss if you are going to survive the mission.
