Default Never had such a massive explosion as this(pic heavy)

October 12, 1944
Luzon Straits
TMO 2.0 RSRD

Fired 3 Mark 18's at lone HEITO MARU just after dawn, two hit, set off a massive series of explosions that blew the ship apart and send the bow airborne, which landed and faced opposite direction of the ships last heading. The third ran in the middle where the ships midship area WAS lol ran itself out, sank and exploded. The pics were snapped as I was in awe, the visuals combined with the amazing sounds from the EAX sound mod was something. The SS really does not do justice but figured I would share.

Sank plenty ships in SH 4 with great explosions, but not like this.Mustve been loaded internally and externally with ammo.Luckily I left the external cam on for this patrol so could see the big surface battles at Leyte Gulf later in the month.

As we discussed. I haven't figured the loadouts that make the biggest boom. Playing with them it seems oil/fuel makes a big boom, fuel/ammo lil smaller, but several explosions. Think ammo/ammo crates give the biggest blast radius. I'll never forget the time I sunk 5 ships with one torps, java invasion, ships blowing up ships. I have no doubt the NC BB has the biggest explosion in game. Playing German and took it out and wow, played for a long time and it actually lagged my PC to a stop for a few seconds. Once I got a NC and took out a carrier next to it., Course I'm from and NC and we have big booms here.... Ever get a chance, shoot one. SS's don't do it justice. Funny, it sinks like a brick in 3 seconds after the explosion The first yellow blast is a big one.

Take some SS of Leyte, which one you after.

I think my biggest boom was from a Kongo. Hit one with an under the keel shot from my aft tube that went off right below the front battery. Huge boom that set off a huge secondaries like mad, up and down the ship. Was exploding for a good 20-30 seconds. Sunk like a rock after that.

*EDIT* And to clarify, the under-the-keel shot wasn't intentional. I meant to shoot it deep, but not under the keel. Either I set the depth too low, or it ran deep. Either way, worked out for me.

Gotta give their loading officer a lot of credit. He really did one heck of a job securing those crates to the deck.
