Default Dunkirk...

Is the Dunkirk evacuation recreated in Silent Hunter 3 or GWX? It's probably a bad idea, but it might be fun to try and hit part of it.

I've never been in the vicinity when Dynamo happens. I "know" in advance, of course, but that would be cheating. BdU always sends me far enough way that it's not worth leaving my area to try to mess with the evacuation. I'd love to hear stories from those who have.

ya, after my experience there I wouldnt do it again. I ignored the whole STAY OUT OF THE CHANNEL rule and after sinking several unescorted transports, and have a few close calls with the incredible amount of aircraft in the area, and even having a destroyer ram in to me on accident, I was sunk in 20m's of water with no room to escape. really wasnt worth it! lol

There have been reports of CTD's when in the area during the operation but that is probably down to lower end systems being unable to cope with the higher than usual amount of traffic.

Hmmm. It's May 28, and nothing's showing up. Just some heavy destroyer and Hurricane patrols. I haven't seen a single merchant yet.

Edit: The Dunkirk evacuations DO take place at Dunkirchen, right? Because I'm within sight of the port's lights with 16km mod on.

Timmy, I assume by "expire" you mean they reach the end of their scripted journey and then despawn? "Expire" has old English connotations of dying.

Oh ye of little faith

Here are a few pictures of the three main groups (Liners, Troop Transports, Escorts etc.) that ferry back and forwards between Dover and Dunkirk.

Notice the date on the upper right (they start earlier than that but you will need to work that one out like a good Kaleun would).

They will continue ferrying/evacuation duties until the first week of June.
