Not personally, however i know several Australian ex-servicemen who have been treated in similar ways by their employers, my late father included.

For some reason we have a culture of ignoring the fact that we ask our servicemen and women to handle dangerous materials often without proper protective equipment or training or even knowledge of the dangers and risks.

Then when the inevitible health problems crop up, the ADF simply shrugs and tells them to get on with it and ignore their calls for addressing the issue.

Regardless of any compensation, the real issue is that they need to put an end to putting people at risk by simply doing their jobs.

Does it matter they 're still people like us.

People are not expendable and when that's required of them the men or people who ask them need to be expended first so that they know what they are asking or demanding firsthand and thus qualified to demand the same thing.
