Need a small help

[Rhodes]

I recent bought a new dvd player, but the 5.1 coluns of my old one are connected trough wire (direct connection maybe, do not know the term for this method) and my new one as the normal jack (may not be jack, but i can't see what to call it) connections.
Any one knows what the term is for this kind of adapters?

PS: Got some images to help, since i can not explain well in english.

Those are male RCA jacks/connectors http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RCA_connector

They are pretty simple, just a single wire connection. You may be able to get a kit which will let you attach RCA jacks to the wire.

ERm... quite often not a single wire connection.

Im a little confused as to the first photo appears to be simple zip wire.

Quite often used with 'coax' cable where the outer ground conductor is connected to the outside shell of the RCA jack and the center conductor is connected to the center pin. In the case of zip wire one wire goes to the shell and the other goes to the center pin. Just observe polarity.

These things can be a royal pita to solder at times depending on which cable is being used.

You should be able to find them already made up quite easly at your electronics store.

Yes, because there's something that I did not know when wrote the thread.
SteamWake, the colums has a positive and a negative connector, as the old player, and what I call it is direct connection, since the copper of the cables are in contact. Like the cabes of a hi-fi system (I think that'show it's call).

The trouble is, this old 5.1 system does not have an active amplifier,since the old player had one, so even I get adapters, it would not give much sound.
I think that the solution is to get a 5.1 pc system since they have a active amplifier.
