Whats a good GPU for SH5

Hello all,
Now I got a 9800 GTX+, but i am not happy with it, my minimum FPS are 30 to 60.

Whats a good NVIDEA GPU to buy without buying the most expensive one?

Is the gtx295 good to run this game flawlessly, or is it better to buy a gtx 460 or up?

You need more than 30-60 for a subsim?

You're fine where you are, imho. But otherwise a 460 gives very good value atm.

If your getting 30-60 fps,I would be content with that.I'm running 2x Nvidia 250's,and they seem to do ok,but I'm thinking of getting a Nvidia 450 GTS.I'm not sure how much I would gain,but the price is mid range,and I may go that route.I need a little more research,but for you that card is worth looking at.I have never used radeon cards as they always seem to have driver problems.They offer several cards at a nice price range,and being they have been around for awhile,perhaps the driver situation is stable by now.

With a 64 bit OS why dom't you upgrade your RAM ?

Alot cheaper.

2x 450 is nice, just a little more money than a 460 1GB and you get decent of performance.

Typically falls between 5850 and 5870, about the same as a 470. For about the same money, you can get a 5850 or 470 and save the hassle of SLI. Or go a bit further and get 2x 460 and annihilate any single-GPU card on the market, but even a single 460 seems plenty powerfull at the moment.

(unless you insist on a constant 60fps or more)

I have pretty much the same specs as you, except NV/Mem clocks are 720MHz/1100MHz, 1066 memory downclocked to 96X, and a Q9450@3.6GHz. Once I disable all shadows and turn AA down I get around 30-60fps at 1152x864, which is fairly decent... why would you want more?

Getting more/faster memory won't really help you, it is the GPU that is limiting your performance (getting more memory will simply improve the memcache and decrease loading times, but they are small enough as it is, I never have time to read the trivia they put in the loading screens).

I'm a GTX 295 user and I'm getting great results with antilag running with SH5 at a resolution of 1920x1080. A solid 60 fps. Although I did overclock it. Graphics clock 680Mhz, Memory clock 1190Mhz, and Processor clock 1466Mhz. In order to keep this cool though I had to waterblock it but it runs flawlessly. Even on normal clock speeds it runs well. I would definitly recommend the GTX 295. But if you do get the GTX 295 get the EVGA one because they have an overclock warranty.

You do realize that the human eye cant really register much more than about 30fps anyway?

What species are you?

Peoples obsession with 'fps' is quite funny tbh, all movies /cinema/tv/dvd etc is shot at 24fps - yet no one complains that they are not 'smooth' enough.

Hmm, it's different with computer graphics. And for shooters, you want quick and smooth input, in which case 60fps makes a notable difference. And it does look smoother.

But yeah, a constant 30fps is what I want from a game. That's what qualifies as good performance for me.

I think i go for the GTX460 with dx11 and then and buy a second one half to one year later, because gtx295 is almost same price as 2x gtx460

I am also going to test that fps remark one had and cap it to 24 and look if everything goes fluid, got it now capped to 30 since that was the lowest i ever saw

The buy more memory isnt needed, 4gig is more then enough for a 64 bit system
