I just installed the latest RSRDC for stock 1.5. When I start a career and go to any mission in any boat, the deck gun is all messed up. The gun is pointing at the deck and when I man the deck gun myself, The gun will not rotate and will not elevate. When I uninstall RSRDC everything is fine, so it is definitely this mod.
Does anyone know how to fix this? |

before you blame rsrdc, the first thing to do when things stop working right is to investigate your files.
the most common problem found is called "mod soup" its when over time all the mods you have installed, uninstalled, and reinstalled have left files behind they werent supposed to so you get files not belonging to any mod mixing with other mods corrupting data. sometimes, and i think most times it is from you changing a file while some mod is still installed. this causes jsgme to not see it as the same file so it doesnt swap it out when you uninstall the mod. this also leaves the original file the mod replaced in the backup files in jsgme and that can corrupt a file saved there by the same name. you can see where all this is going and it happens to everyone sooner or later. step one is purge all mods from jsgme and delete them to be replaced with brand new fresh copies from the download or from your documents files. step two is to purify your game files by deleting the entire data folder and replacing it with your backup copy of the stock unmodded v1.4 or v1.5 game you use. if you didnt preserve a backup copy to restore your files then you will need to uninstall and reinstall the whole game, and then make a backup copy of your data folder before doing anything else. you now know all files are clean so if something still doesnt work then you know its a mod or mod combination doing it. |

I understand where you are coming from and I agree entirely with what you said, but I actually have tried most of that. I am sorry I did not give enough info in my first post.
-I have a new fresh install patched up to 1.5. so that is not the problem with corrupt data -The only other mods I am using are PE4, RUIM, and I manually installed a few sound files and the menu screens and music from Fall of the Rising Sun, but no campaign files, or changes to subs, so that is not it. On my clean, fresh 1.5 stock install, I install RSRDC and the deck guns are messed up. I uninstall this mod and they go back to normal. I am not making stuff up here. This is the mod, and I have narrowed it down because 1) I don't have many mods installed, and 2) I have tried them all individually by uninstalling and installing and testing in game and I am 99% certain that this IS the one causing the problem. |

now just to be clear what you did, you "only" have rsrdc mod by itself and it messed up? if thats true then you need lurker's help im asking because it could be fighting another mod even if it isnt related |

This probably won't be that helpful, but a few months ago I was trying out the then new major upgrade of RFB. I also installed RSRDC for RFB. The same thing happened to my deck gun--it was canted toward the deck and was frozen in place. I remember squaking it to the RFB forum but unfortunately I don't remember what the response was. Something I did fixed the problem but I don't recall what it was. I think you have a mod conflict but have no idea what it may be. I suspect your game install is okay though based on my experience.

in the interum use the older version of rsrdc you had before he updated it. the thing you could do as well is try deleting the gun files from the rsrdc mod folder so they stay stock, that way whatever is messed up in the gun files wont be installed. it may not work but its worth trying. |

If I'm right, the problem might as well be in RSRDC since you managed to narrow it down to this one. I figured that out the same way you did. Anyway, here's how I fixed it: Quote:
Now here's the defect; When I was upgrading to the 4/50 caliber the movement were getting disabled exactly as you described it. In my case, for some reason 3 AI gun files were duplicated in the mod itself:
I installed TMO 2.0 using JSGME and the problem was fixed! ![]() |
