I am thinking of upgrading my game to 1.5. You're probably thinking, "get with it, that came out years ago." I know, I know, I've been pretty content with the US Fleetboats but I've looked at some videos of the uboat missions add-on and it looks pretty cool. ALso most mods aren't made for 1.4 anymore.
So....should I just get it on steam or am I asking for compatibility / mod issues with that? |

Personally, I'd buy a hard copy (disc). I've read too many horror stories about Steam. That's just my personal opinion.

Ok. Thanks for the suggestion. Can you still download it from Ubi or direct2drive? I think for a while people were doing that.

I tried to buy it from Steam back when that was the only way you could get it. They told me that since I lived outside the United States they couldn't sell it to me. I guess they're right - I live in Utah.
The more I think about it, the less likely I am ever to download a game. Too many chances of losing it.

I love steam. I use it to buy nearly all my games and everything works out fine, most of the time.
However, this is not one of those times. The Steam Version of SH has a LOT of issues. Not so much if it's just stock, but once you get the U-Boat addon, things go to piss. If I could go back and undo it, I'd have bought a hard copy for this particular game. |

Always go for the disk when you can. IMO, you don't truly own a game unless you have it on disk.

Have to agree with Ducumus. Get the disk. Go for the SHIV Gold Edition, has both SHIV and the UBM on one disk. Downloaded versions are a big hassle.

You should only get the steam version if your copy of SH4 is also a steam version - if it isn't, it won't work.

Roger that. I don't have the steam version of SH4 (1.4) so I won't get the steam version of the uboat missions. Thanks.

Get the disk, personally right now I'm fighting with direct2drive because they used to run ubi's download site well they don't anymore, long story short, Ubi will not let me download another copy since d2d doesn't run their ubishop anymore and d2d, well don't get me started.
Disk 100% imho

I got my original copy from D2D....I wouldn't go near them with a ten foot pole....I later got a "hard" copy, and that's been a life saver.

I agree with everyone on buying the disk, but where on earth can I find one? I already have the game. In fact it is spinning right now, but as for the expansion, it is no where to be found other than this gold edition. Is there any way someone could point me in the correct direction to get hooked up with this item? Failing that, I REALLY don't want to shell out $10USD to ubi for a one shot download since I routinely clean my computer of things I don't plan on using before I deploy.
