Default GWX3 for multiplayer: the game is finished and the ship is not sunk

Hello,

I am a member of a Spanish internet community. Our hobby is any WWII multiplayer game and the Silent Hunter III is our main game.

We perform SH3 multiplayer tournaments and the SH3+GWX3 is the basic configuration this time.

Each game is about 90 minutes long. In that period of time, sighting, approach and attack must be made. Our targets should also be sunk in that interval of time.

Normally we are ready for attacking 45 or 60 minutes after the game started. We love the GWX mod, but the realistic sinking times are very long in multiplayer games. Longer multiplayer games are not possible because several players must be at time with free time. It is very difficult to meet several people when the real life exists and restricts the gaming time.

We (my friends and I) must find a compromise between realism and playability. I have been searching for information here, but I have not been able to find it.

What files should be modified to reduce (like the stock game) the sinking time of the ships? Is there a mod (GWX3.0 mod) that can help me?

Alternatively, I can uncheck “Realistic ship sinking time” option, but I am afraid that the game becomes a too arcade game, doesn’t it?

Thanks in advance.

The sinking times are dependant on the damage zon files and I agree they do seem to take an age in sinking when realistic sinking times is enabled in MP.

Unfortunately without going into the ship models and undertaking a great deal of work it looks like you are restricted to either or.

I have played MP many times and put the realistic sinking times down to the fact that not every ship that was torpedoed actually sank.

Thank you, jimbuna. I see that it requires a lot of work. The question is now, Could I replace the zon files with the stock’s ones? Or will the game have an unpredictable behavior?

In any case, taking advantage of your multiplayer experience, disabling “Realistic ship sinking time” option, not every ship that was torpedoed is actually sank, but is the number of sunken ships bigger (and faster) or not? Maybe it is enough for us.

'Unpredictable behaviour' is an understatement IMHO.....don't mess with the zon files unless you are reasonably confident in them.

Disabling the realistic ship sinking time will quicken the sinking times but only to a small extent/degree.

If I were you and your colleagues I would probably leave well alone and let fate decide.

Do you mean that SH3 could explode?

Thank you for your time. I was expecting that answer.

Regards.
