I'm not an SH3 guy, but there is legacy stuff in SH4, so I thought I'd ask you experts.
The ship files in the SH4 roster have entries for the names of individual ships: [Unit 1] Name=Hakusika Maru DOC=19170101 DOD=19470101 That sort of thing. They do not get used, though I compulsively add every single ship name in a class to them just because ![]() Did SH3 ever have anythign similar, so that instead of seeing captains log results that show a certain CLASS of ship sunk, you see that ships's specific NAME (the 1st in the convoy being unit 1, the next unit 2, and so forth?)? |

SH3 has the exact same lists, but it has never worked. It's my understanding that SH4 doesn't work either, at least not for merchants.
In SH3 we have SH3 Commander, which makes it work, but only after the patrol, which is arguably more realistic anyway.

The auto-populated rec manual is a major flaw in the game engine, IMHO.
It would be nicer to have control over it. Heck, I'm not even sure what determines the page order in the thing. I names a clone exactly the same thing as her parent, wioth one additional letter, and the clone shows FIRST ![]() Oh, wait, now I remember, it's alpha order for the Roster/Nation/Sea folder. Rename clone to come first in that list. Seems to do it actually by unit type, then alpha order within that (type 100 first, in roster alpha order, then 101,, 102, etc.) Last edited by tater; 08-22-10 at 12:39 PM. |
