Upper on that scale makes you an authoritarian. Not that Stalin is upper, and left, and Hitler is simply slightly right of Stalin (calling nazis "right" is a case where modern standards are apparently based on Stalin's own attacks on his enemies (fallen out fellow travelers were often painted as "right" by the Soviets to discredit them, even if they were simply another branch of communism.

Lower left is basically an adult who wants to live as a child their whole life as far as I can tell, with The State™ as mommy and daddy (weak-willed parents who won't spank, perhaps—vs the upper right, where many failing result in death).

Lower right is someone who favors total freedom from government interference.

I'm far right, a little below Y=0 (-1 or -2, it's been a while).

I'm left slightly low, I guess I'm a Libertarian leaning towards communist, according to the chart I'm around where Gandhi and Mandela are placed.

Economic Left/Right: -6.12
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -2.21

I've done this compass stuff fairly extensively, both in school and in various discussions, so I won't do another questionnaire on that one again. I know that I'm very far left economically, and close to neutral (slightly libertarian) socially. Which I guess puts me somewhere between utopian socialists and social libertarians.

Which yes, does make me fairly hardcore to a classic definition of commie

well thank you

No test can accurately determine your political stance though.
I know of myself that I'm a socialist, but I'm also someone who's very (very) protective of our culture, something generally associated with right-wing parties. Which has undoubtedly influenced my far-left position in this test, as there weren't really any questions about "invading cultures".

Yeah, you can't take the compass as a voting guide, that's for sure. I for one am really very disillusioned with the political left practically everywhere. It's been ruined by political correctness and distracted from socioeconomic goals by petty concerns about lifestyle choices and cultural cliches. Or some weird pro-Soviet/pro-hippie nostalgia. Most of the voting base is either senile idealists, socially sheltered academics, or young rebels-without-a-cause. So even with my own orientation, I'll be the first to say that almost all the worlds far-left political parties and organizations are indeed silly jokes.

This.
I do vote for the (Dutch) Socialist Party though. Might have something to do with the fact that they care a little less about political correctness (they're even against immigration )

I like your voting.

Nothing?:
In all fairness, in past tests I've come out more to The Right, and more to The Libertarian. I guess it all depends on which issues they concentrate on.
Some of these questions I saw as excluding obviouse options.

I wonder where our favorite troll would finish.

No, to be a commie you need to be authoritarian.

Fewer than half of the "ten planks" are required to build the very definition of a totalitarian police state.

The problem is that to get left you must have state control over people's economic activity. The Y axis is their personal liberty (aside from money).

Being economically left in effect takes away economic freedom—it's like getting an allowance from rich parents.

Economic Left/Right: -0.10 - Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -0.05

As of right now, I'm center. Which must have something to do with my mood as I'm usually with Ghandi or near him.

Not by actual definition of communism - the idealist "communist dream" is the lack of vertical authority as such and community consensus on the local level serving as the deciding force. The "practical communism" that we've seen is the oh-so-nice Marxist stage of the "dictatorship of the proletariat". Funny how Marx didn't quite anticipate that once someone got a dictatorship, they wouldn't want to let it go...

Likewise I wouldn't confuse left-right with "state control" per se. The state as such is mostly in the middle of the spectrum. Both the far left and the far right are anti-state in their ideology - one believes in local community consensus as the driving force, the other believes in individual enterprise for profit. Both, in their "pure" forms dislike the notion of state. The real difference is in the motivation - individual gain or public good. Neither in itself is evil. Both are traditional sources for development, and in good ethical people tend to go hand-in-hand regardless. They only become evil when they're subverted unchecked greed or vertical authority.

Otherwise, state as such doesn't factor directly into the economic axis there. That's the other dimension.
