What Actions get rewarded with what medals?

Hey Guys

Just playing in campaign mode and I noticed that although in my current career patrol I have sunk 552kTonnes of shipping on a single patrol, I have nothing more than a Iron Cross 2nd Class awarded to me for such action.

If that doesn't get me a Knights Cross then can anyone tell me what does?

The only thing I can think of is saving and loading during the patrol which removes all the "ships sunk" markers on my navigation map.

Thanks for any advice cause kinda sick of having 8 Iron Crosses 2nd class and 1 Iron Cross First Class to speak for 2.8mill Tonnes sunk in my overall career.

Not sure why this is. Have you awarded your crew medals ? That may have something to do with it. Otherwise do a search for medals or awards through the SH5 forums, someone might know something more about this.
