total Pacific conversion Mod for SH5 ?

Forgive this question if it sounds silly. I was wondering if anyone is working on a total US Pacific conversion Mod for SH5 ? Also is it even possible to do?

First of all , the most important thing is import units from sh3 and sh4 to SHV, submarines, scorts, planes.. after this change menus, music, and the campaign files.

If not is possible import or moddify units it could be impossible

The complete SH4 UI is there already. Don't know how easy it would be to switch alliance though .

I thought about this awhile ago, but even if all the tools were there to do it, I see little point from a cost verses benefit ratio.

Let's be practical for a moment.

Assuming a full PTO mod was made and ready for D/L right now, what is really gained in SH5 over SH4 for the PTO?

- fully rendered interiors
- more spiffy graphics
- ability to "buy" conning towers instead of refits.
- Dynamic campaign
- AI scripting

That's really about it. SH5 doesn't really offer anything new in functionality. So breaking things down.

- Interior and graphics = astheticly pleasing = eye candy. On top of that, more interiors are in development for Sh4 anyway.

- Buying of CT's. = It would be nice. But a major driving force? I don't think so.

- Dynamic campaign = touted as dynamic, but it seems to me game play ends up being the same regardless.

- AI scripting. = Definatly nice, but it's kind of standing off by itself with no extra supporting reasons to back it up..

So whats involved?
Redoing ALL submarine interior and exterior models. Just for starters. In the end you'll have to redo just about every resource file in the game. If you want something good, and not a hack job, something that looks native and out of the box to the platform, were talking at least a couple years worth of work.

Too little gain, for too much time.

I think that if SH5 Modding progresses at the pace it is now it'll be a while until we see a PTO Mod for SH5.

However, God willing we are able to import models (and spiff them up a bit) from Sh3/4 then I think that we will see a little faster progress on it. Also, I remember seeing LukeFF and the team that made RFB for Sh4 state that they were thinking of restarting RUB. If that project were to be finished I'm sure we could have a lot of the headway in coding the campaign scripts, etc done. This, I think would help alot in transferring SH5 to the Pacific.

One thing I would love to see would be the PTO from the Japanese point of view (seeing as this game focuses on the Axis submarines..) Or perhaps being able to make the British submariners part in the Atlantic War.

This is all possible of course, but only if we beat the Romanians to the punch! Plus ours will be free

Cheers,

Krauter

Well, time is not a problem if UBI drop the SH franchise , it could be the last engine released for several years.

that is a good question. I DON'T THINK anyone is now but i think one might eventually be made from millions of mods combined. think of it like lasers. we keep building them and eventually we will have Laser Warfare. LOL
