Well not really, its from 1972. My mom and I were cleaning out the attic today, when she found a old box with a inch of dust on it. When we moved it into better light, the label read, 'STORAGE FOR NEW ATTIC', so it has been in the attic since we moved in like 9 years ago. I brought it down after we finished cleaning out the attic, and I opened it. Inside was some old boarding passes and stuff from TAP( I did not know airlines use to give you kits of stuff, i.e. toothbrush/toothpaste, cigs, a pillow, wipes, mask for you eyes, etc) I can not even get a pillow now without paying.
![]() Anyways, after looking at it and using the all knowing GOOGLE, I found out it was an original 1972 Olympus OM-1 SLR. I was very happy, I asked my dad, and he said the family friend from Swizterland got that at the Photokina of Köln in 1972. And gave it to my dad as a birthday gift. So now I own a 1972 OM-1 SLR with a manuel in German/Swedish/Japanese. I can not wait to use this baby. |

You've got yourself quite a nice albeit vintage camera. Hope you can find lenses to go with it.

Oh dude, post a few up snaps up in the Photography thread. I don't know cameras from my own hindquarters, but that's a real find. Awesome!
![]() I once found an old 8mm home movie camera at an estate sale but was too broke to purchase it. They even had a rig for cutting the film. ![]()

Quality kit you've got there
![]() I still have my Olympus OM-10 which was fully automatic but by fitting a small attachment (£25 cost at the time) it was immediately converted to a OM-1/OM-2 allowing you to switch from one version to the other at the turn of a dial (the best of both worlds). I've got the usual 28mm wide angle, 50mm standard issue, 300mm telephoto but my favourit all rounder is my 28-115mm. Take care of it....very nice ![]() |

I plan to take care of it.
krashKart: I would love to post pictures when I start taking them, but how do I get pictures from the film on to my laptop? |

I've made the jump to digital about 5 years ago, so now my OM-10 is stored away in an old camera bag. A couple of years ago I bought a digital Olympus E-500. Haven't had any regrets about that. It's amazing how SLR camera bodies alone were $600 or more back in the eighties when I got my OM-10, and that was without any lenses. Now days you see good film SLR's with at least one lens for $200 or so. My, how the digital camera age as changed things. My kids won't even know what film is. ![]()
