Default Relearning SHIII Need Help Bad

I can't recall how to get my target's seed to show up in notepad after I attempt a manual input.

Here is what I have been trying:

Go to F6 the... TDC screen

Click on the auto/manual button until it shows green...ready for manual input

Use the speed dial to dial in my target's speed calculation

At this point nothing happens. How do I get the speed I just input to register with the TDC/ scope/notepad?

I went back and read several tutorials and posts . They all tell how to input the speed manually but not what to do to get the manual input to register. I assume it is something self evident that I am not seeing.

BTW I am playing around with the 1.4 version with no mods. I wanted to get reimmersed in SHIII before applying GWX.

(this is what happens when you play around in the Pacific too long)

with the target locked, you run the speed timer (low left hand of notepad). Run it for at least 6 seconds and then click it again to get the speed. Note it reads how much the scope moves in degrees to get the speed, so if you are moving it throws off the reading. You also have to have a good range and AoB reading beforehand. I double click the checkmark before launching to get the gyro set correctly. I would suggest using the notepad or the manual entry (either or but don't mix the two).

It is entirely ok to mix the two.(read Wahzoos in depth tutorial and other posts)

I know how to do the auto notepad speed ...no problem..except it is almost always wrong.

What I can't remember is how to input my calculated target speed manually and THEN have it register as part of the TDC solution.

I just got a new copy of SHIII from Subsim store on Friday which is supposed to have all the patches included and starforce removed.

I'm beginning to think something is different from my original copy of SHIII that I got back on the first release day and used through all the patch updates and mods. I never had this problem before.

OK figured it out myself. Just sank a costal freighter at 1200 meters to prove t.

What wuz I thinking?

Manual inputs overide any auto inputs and dont show up in notepad.

OH Well, like I said, it was something obvious and it has been way too long since I was in the Atlantic...

I have decided that the notepad is pretty useless. I do all my speed estimations by direct observation and/or the Fixed Wire method, and then manually enter information into the TDC through the TDC screen.

Explain.....Yes...SH4....

I had lost all my SH3 skills it seems while working for the U.S. Navy.

But I'm happy to say that I'm back toSH3 speed now after relearning all the old tricks.

Thanks for asking.
