I wish I have a time-machine...

Seamen!

Wartime: Aug.1942

I leaving France for caribbean, a wide and a long trip,with expectation,and eventuality also nice event for the crewmembers.I use TC but not more than 32/64/128 as every person now I´ts alteration in environment,unit and maybe equipment to use high TC.I like long cruise so this is not "frustrate" post......but a time-machine sounds more remotely...

i know in sh3 commander you can make it so you spawn a distance from the docks but not very far. maybe the same idea could be used to start one off anywhere in the world?

You can usually go quite high in tc when in mid ocean but not adviseable to go above 128 when in an area that has air cover.

jimbuna, i have just noticed how many posts you have! ( an icon with eyes popping out )

i also agree with you in this post - plus - no high TC's in and around coast lines and known shipping lanes.

...Not so long ago... i had a very good career. a very good crew and a very good tonnage. i was so eeeeager/impatient to get back to W/haven to collect renown and all the goodies on one particular patrol i high TC'd it back to close in land and struck a schnell boot - all hands gone. i was mortified. it was late at night and i had sailed this patrol all day - ALL DAY! i had punctured a convoy sunk a couple of Black Swans and was feeling mighty pleased. (i had back pain and was sweating during the last attack.)

i still have the saved career but feel it would not be 'immersion' to resurect those good men.

But to do this,more than 128 TC, take for me the hole thinkable idyllic illusion, and so I stay sharp and see the whitecaps instead.

I suppose the balance your after is the decision around receiving the renown you've earned as opposed to the unrealistic ability to turn the clock back to your previous save point.

I'd let the renown go and put it down to the learning curve but in future you may want to hit the Esc key when in sight of land and ensure your renown is safe/banked.

You do realise the renown for returning to base has never worked, neither in stock or GWX?

So what you do is, edit the Basic.cfg file to add the 100 you get for returning to base to the 200 you get for completing the 24 hours on station so that you always get the extra 100 if you complete your time on station. If for some reason you use ESC to return to base, waste 100 renown by dismissing a crewman and hiring a replacement. He won't have the experience of your dismissed crewman, which is enough of a penalty.

If you're running GWX, you'll have to edit the values back into the config file:

[RENOWN]
RenownReachGridObjCompleted=500
RenownPatrolGridObjCompleted=300 ; 200 + 100 for completed patrol

to focus to sink enemy unit, and have some renown for a patrol grid,as you now the could be for example a convoy in your way, so aim on cargo

Bringing back 30K to 70K tons IS concentrating on enemy shipping.

I figure if the BdU is going to order me to some grid that's inconvenient, empty, or spectacularly dangerous, I should be getting some reward for following orders. Otherwise, why not just ignore the BdU and hit the hot spots? Getting the reward for patrolling a target-rich grid is just icing on the cake.

Also, if my path to the patrol grid takes me through heavy traffic, there is good reason not to expend all my torpedos: I might need some in the patrol grid. Hanging around for 24 hours unable to attack isn't that much fun. I'll pass through the same heavy traffic area on the way back, and if I have any ammo left over, that's the time to use it.

"Ok guys, we've got one torpedo and 200 deck gun rounds left, and we're passing through an area known to be heavy in small coastal traffic. Let's hang around a bit and see what turns up."

And you know what's really bad? I almost never spend renown. It's just brownie points for promotion.

But even if you are just in the widely grid,is this behaviour are you "must not stay just there".You can go in other roughly direction and hunt,so after that you turn back and finish the entirely area,so you can be very distinguished in the hole mission,however upgrade to IXB so you have more eels,so you get more than peanuts...
