I really love age of sail stuff, but the previous game in this series - East India Company - was pretty disappointing. It's not much of a sailing simulation, even of the "simulation" difficulty mode. It's kind of fun to play around with, but I won't be picking up Conquest of the Americas on the strength of EIC.

What I wouldn't give for a proper napoleonic era sailing game in the Silent Hunter mould.

I know how you feel I too thought EIC was fairly underwhelming and the trading things of side just came across as boring. Hopefully the devs have learned their lessons. This game looks to be oriented more in the mold of a colonization style title with the addition of EIC 3D naval battles which might be a good mix, time will tell.

That would be fantastic, The best Age of Sail game I've found so far is Empire TW. But as has been said, I found EIC very disappointing and so don't have high hopes for this.
