Strange things are happening...

So, i was sneaking around early in the campaign. Found a lone ship and decided to end its journey prematurely.. Was in a good position and locked on the target. I identified the ship as a liberty cargo ship. Noticed that the range was a bit off, i though they fixed that in the patch *sigh*. However, i adjusted for those 100~ so meters i guesstimated the range to be off, fired off a few eels and got one nice hit.. Surfaced to finish the poor guy off with the deck gun.. He went down to davy jones and i was a happy camper. Until i saw the Captains log. "Ship sunk! Large steamer (war supplies)". Darn it! i though, and was afraid i must be getting blind or something. Went back to the TDC guy to once again fiddle thru the list of ships. To my surprise i did not find the "large steamer" Listed in the available ships which is only listing "relevant" ship types. And the TDC was still set on the same ship, since no other targets were around. As far as i am concerned that ship i sunk WAS a liberty. It had the masts, funnel and the little platform in the front corresponding to the picture. Yet the game say its another ship, Which is not available to select from my list. No wonder TDC solutions are crap... Anyone else seen this quite strange behavior?
