Cant seem to follow the manual targetting guide

Ive been trying but keep losing what the guide writer is trying to say.

Is there any more guides with different examples for manual targetting?

I got lost at the part where you line up range of the ship (which I can get) wth the length of the ship. I was able to do that, but then the guide says "now look at our 52 degrees" and I have no idea how he decided to look at 52 degrees to begin with.

MAN THIS IS HARD!
