Default Trigger happy mouse

Hello all,
Posted this on ubi forum but no answers yet...

I've been happily playing SH3/GWX on my old laptop with win7x86 at 1920x1200.

Recently bought an asus g73 which has win7x64 and i've setup SH3/GWX to play at 1920x1080. Running ati10.4 drivers.

All is going fine, until i run into enemy ship, get into position to attack, raise the periscope (using Ctrl PGUP) and as soon as i click the mouse ANYWHERE on the periscope screen...the mouse snaps/jumps to the FIRE button on screen and clicks it instead. Torpedo away. Bye bye element of surprise. And it keeps happening...if i try and click the LOCK button, or click to move the crosshairs in the periscope...then if there is a torp loaded in the currently selected tube...it gets launched.

So the only thing i had configured myself (other than setting res to 1920x1080) was the Numpad* key to instantly get back to 1024x time compression.
But i have since removed the line (Key1=0x6A,R,"Npad *") from my cfg thinking that maybe it caused my trigger happy mouse problem.

I dont think it did, cause the trigger happy mouse is still there.

Have i messed up my cfg file, or done something else silly ?

My "NumPad*Mod" doesn't cause this problem.

Did you enable the "jump to OK by default" checkbox in your mouse driver application? First thing that comes to my mind - just a shot into the blue...

What mods are you running?

i was thinking more along the lines i hadn't added the line (for numpad*) correctly in the .cfg file. I simply put it below the Key0 line below the [Cmd5] line.

installed the intellipoint app (its a microsoft notebook optical 3000 mouse), confirmed left mouse button is 'click' and right mouse button does 'right click'. i.e. not 'jump to xxxx'

still get same problem. its actually the second primary mouse click when the problem occurs. i.e. i press once in periscope to allow the mouse to scroll left/right. when i press the left mouse button a second time to get the cursor back, thats when it appears over the Fire button and executes it.

i noticed it also jumps in a similar manner on other screens where there are 2 modes for the mouse. i.e. deckgun, inside the sub etc. when returning from freeview mode, the cursor always appears in the same place (lower right of screen)...which is fine...it just seems to execute a click after the cursor appears.

as for mods, they're the same as i had running on old laptop:

Captain Americas Officer Icons
Enhanced Damage Effects
Integrated Orders
Open Hatch Mod
Alternate Loadscreen - Full Circle
Umark

I'd disable Integrated Orders and try again.

same after disabling i/orders.

i have found the cause though. Looked at the d3d9.cfg on my old laptop, and saw that i was running the game at 1280x800, not the native 1920x1200 as i originally thought. Guess that was for performance reasons.

So i decided to drop the res (in d3d9.cfg) on my spanky new g73 to 1280x720 (to preserve aspect ratio) and... no more trigger happy mouse !!! yay

the screen scales fine to fit the whole screen, but i now cant click on the bottom 1cm of the screen in sh3.
Maybe it doesnt like this aspect ratio...dunno...

Not going to lose sleep over it, will experiment with some other resolutions tomorrow. Think its safe to say there are some mouse quirks with adjusting res via d3d9.cfg.

As i said though, 1200x800 wsa working fine...so if you's all would like to post what res you are running the game at...i would be curious to know.

cheers

Great you hunted it down.

I'm at 1280x1024 on a 1920x1080 display and have black areas on the left and right side.

I tried different settings but couldn't get the game running. And screenshots only cover 1024x768 from the top left corner of the game screen.
