I reinstalled SH5 2 days ago , as modders do . Now for 2 days i have been trying to fire a torp to no avail . They just wont fire . I have reinstalled SH5 to patch 1.01 vanilla with no mods . It never works . I have ccleaned and searched the registry and there is no sign of any files before i clean installed SH5 . No matter what when i reinstall SH5 it wont put a desktop shortcut no matter what .I can never fire a torp . Help .

Did you let Bernard load the torpedo?

OMG...i was just thinking to reinstall the game....i think i'll wait.
Have you tryed to save and load?? Sometimes could be fix the prob. And upgrade to 1.15 if the game didn't autupdate...

I have tried everything . Must be something left over in the system after i uninstall or from the ubi downloader .

Where do you have the game installed at?

have you cleaned up everythign in the "stores" directory if you are on vista/windows 7? This its the "low security" portion for windows 7/vista.


as a rule of thumb get out of the habit of installing your games to the Programs Dir and instead install them into a directory under your c:\Users\[USER] (Mine i just called Games\)

Windows 7 64 bit if that helps . Just reinstalled , will not put a desktop icon on the desktop .

Do a complete uninstall once more - also check you My Docs folder if you have XP There is a SH5 Folder in there - delete it - Also click on My Computer, then Local Dick C: If you have XP you will see a Ubisoft folder under Program Files - delete this -

Then grab yourself a copy of Crap Cleaner its free http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner

Celan your files and registry and then reinstall - this works I've done it myself am waiting for the patch so I can get back into the game, no point in installing any mods or starting a career until the patch comes out

Of course this is all based on having XP as your operating System I dont know about Vista - but then anyone with Vista should have got rid of it ages ago - dont know anythiing about Win& though I have heard its very good

Crap Cleaner is a great tool and worth having permenantly on your PC

Now for my next problem LOL . The black screen of death . Windows 7 , 5870 card with latest drivers , P7P55D mobo , corsair dominator 1600 ram , intel I5 cpu . I get a black screen that i have to hard shut down after playing for random number of minutes . I updated the bios , running ok so far .

Have you upgraded your graphic card drivers lately or your main memory?

i've had similar results with both before with new drivers getting corrupted (removal of driver and going back to an earlier driver solved this) and i've also had the latency timings on the memory in the bios not working as described causing intermittent memory glitches which instead of the BSOD gave me a black screen.

Interesting.
When you say black screen, during game play your monitor/screen went into standby mode?
Monitor light blinking, as if in standby mode?
At least mine blinks when in standby mode.
And you can't obviously get the screen/desktop back unless you reboot.
Does Win 7 when rebooting show BSD? (Blue screen of death, with error message)?
I would check your GPU temperature.
Generally a "trip-out" from a game, or anything that makes your GPU work can be caused by the card over-heating and automatically shutting down.
This is a security measure which most cards have so that you don't fry your card.
Or it could be the GPU isn't getting enough power from the PSU, ie., shut-down.
I had this happen on occasion with Stalker COP, when all of a sudden the monitor goes black, (standby mode) and i have to reboot to get desktop back.
Mind you, my card, when playing is around 82C, so certainly my temp is A OK.
My PSU is fine too, more than enough. Ok, over to you.
